WNR has two grass tennis courts which are open on a seasonal basis, typically mid-April to early November.  Grass is the surface that tennis was first played on in England in 1882 and still the surface at Wimbledon, a Grand Slam event.  According to a CNN Health Report, the bent grass courts are easiest on the body, allowing players to play for hours without soreness the next day!

Grass Court Tennis is mainly a serve and volley game and ground strokes are hit mostly as a slice or underspin shot, making grass the favorite surface of good doubles players.  Early spring and late fall the grass is used for croquet, a very social lawn game enjoyed by all generations.
